Mufti Mohammad Waqqas, Naib Amir of Hifazat-e-Islam and president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam, has demanded a judicial investigation into the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi, Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam and CEO of Darul Uloom Hathazari Madrasa . “I want to make it clear that the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi was not normal,” he said. A force has created chaos in Hathazari Madrasa. As a result, Ahmed Shafi suffered a cruel death. What I would say was an unusual death, not a normal death.
He spoke as keynote guest at a mahfil discussion and prayer on the life and work of Allama Ahmad Shafi organized by the Bangladesh Qaumi Madrasa Teachers Association at the National Press Club here yesterday. Demanding a judicial investigation into the whole matter, Mufti Waqqas said that if left without trial, chaos would spread throughout the Qaumi arena. Such a cruel death from Allama Shafi cannot be accepted. For this, I demand a judicial investigation of the Prime Minister.
On the occasion, a six-point statement was read, demanding a judicial investigation into the events of the last two days of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi’s life and the student protests at Hathazari Madrasa.
The manifesto protests a number of issues, including a judicial investigation and the vandalism of Allama Shafi’s last life, seeing some students vandalize his room, forcing him to give up the madrasah he built with his life.
The announcement, read on behalf of several of the country’s top clerics and the caliphs of Allama Shafi, said that some people were trying to spread unrest across the country after the incident in Hathazari Madrasa. They have also called for a Hathazari-style revolution in madrassas across the country. Apart from this, there are various provocations on social media, including direct speeches about Deshbarenya Alems.
Maulana Wahiduzzaman, director of Mirpur Pallabi Madrasa, chaired the performance. Mukhlesur Rahman Kasemi, Central Leader of Jatiya Imam Samaj and Khatib of Bakshibazar Mosque Maulana Jubayer, President of the Manch Islamic Unit Maulana Masudur Rahman Bikrampuri, Organizing Secretary of Jamiat Maulana Rezaul Karim, General Secretary of Bangladesh Qaumi Madrasa Atiq Teachers Association.
