Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, Emir of Hefazat-e-Islam, the country’s leading scholar, has fallen asleep in a mud house. His burial was completed at 2:15 pm Saturday at the Madrasa facility. Previously, his eldest son Muhtamim Maulana Mohammad Yusuf from Pakhiartila Qawmi Madrasa in Rangunia presided over his janaza. After Janaza, the veteran scholar of the country was buried in the cemetery adjacent to the mosque.

Millions of people flocked to Chittagong Hathazari to participate in Allama Shafi’s janaza. He participated in the standing janaza on the Chittagong-Khagrachhari and Chittagong-Rangamati roads, the Kachari road, and various shopping centers in the area two kilometers beyond the Madrasa campus. Millions of devotees, followers, thousands of students and devotees of the Madrasa bid farewell to Allama Shafi, known as the ‘Great Lord’, with tears in their eyes, prayers, respect and love.

The Chittagong district administration had been on high alert since Friday night to avoid any unfavorable situation surrounding the death and janaza of Allama Shafi. Ten BGB platoon and seven executive magistrates were on duty in four contiguous upazilas, including Hathazari, to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, due to pressure from the worshipers who came to participate in the janaza, traffic on the Chittagong, Rangamati and Khagrachhari highways stopped starting at 8:30 am. Millions of people, large and small, come from all over to participate in the janaza. Many people are disappointed in queuing to see their loved one.

Local law MP Anisul Islam Mahmud, Satkania-Lohagara MP Abu Reza Nadvi, Gazipur City Corporation Mayor Jahangir Alam and other senior administration officials participated in the janaza.

Meanwhile, his followers began to arrive from different upazilas, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Hathazari, Raozan, Rangunia, Satkania, and Patia from Chittagong to participate in the janaza.

Amir Ahmed Shafi, 104, died at Azgar Ali hospital in the capital on Friday night after suffering from various heart and aging complications.

Condolences from the Religious Secretary: Secretary of the Ministry of Religion. Nurul Islam expressed deep sorrow at the death of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi and said that Allama Shafi was one of the country’s leading scholars, a great Hadith master in Ilm-e-Hadith, founder and patron of many madrasas. Upon his death, Bangladesh lost a great servant of Islam. He respectfully recalled the special contribution of the latter to the overall development of the Qaumi Madrasa education system in Bangladesh, including the recognition of the Qaumi Madrasa Charter.
