The location of the funeral of the Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam, Allama Noor Hossain Qasemi, has been changed.

Funeral prayers will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday (December 14) at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Previously, it was reported that it would take place on the National Eidgah Maidan.

The decision was made at a meeting of senior clerics at Baridhara Madrasa in the capital on Sunday evening, Khatib Maulana Imranul Bari Siraj of the Pir Yemeni Mosque, who was present there, confirmed the information to Jugantar.

He said that Allama Qasemi’s janaza would be held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque instead of the national Eidgah due to lack of permission from the government. His youngest son, Mufti Jaber Kasemi, will lead the procession.

The veteran academic was admitted to the United Hospital in the capital on December 1 due to lack of air.

He was transferred to the ICU last Thursday night after his condition suddenly worsened.

He died at the United Hospital in the capital around 1:15 pm on Sunday.

Nur Hossain Qasemi has been the Dhaka Metropolitan President of the organization since its inception. A new committee was formed on November 15 after the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi, the organization’s emir.

Allama Babungari was elected Amir and Nur Hossain Qasemi was elected secretary general of the committee.
