Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered the concerned authorities on Thursday to subject all drivers to the drug control system to find out if they are drug addicts.
The Prime Minister participated in a debate via videoconference from her official Ganobhaban residence, saying: ‘… another thing to keep in mind is whether those who drive are using drugs. They must submit to an anti-doping test. We need to find out if they are using drugs. This test is required for all drivers at least once and you must take it. The UNB news agency reported the news.
On the occasion of National Safe Roads Day 2020, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges today organized a virtual program in the auditorium of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
In her speech, the Prime Minister urged the people not to take justice into their own hands and to abandon the mentality of insulting drivers or attacking vehicles in the event of an accident or mishap. Because, in many cases, it causes more accidents.
Warning pedestrians to use zebra crossings, the Prime Minister said: “Traffic laws are the same for everyone and everyone must respect the traffic rules.”
Furthermore, Sheikh Hasina asked drivers to avoid the mentality of overtaking other vehicles as it causes accidents in many cases.
Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan connected through a virtual platform at today’s event, chaired by the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader. The Secretary of the Department of Highway and Highway Transportation welcomed the event. Nazrul Islam.
