A’League leader arrested for raping his employee’s daughter at Sonagazi

Police arrested an Awami League leader named Tamiz Uddin Nayan, 50, in connection with the rape of a seventh grade student in Sonagazi, Feni.

He was arrested in the village of Vadadia around 10:30 pm on Thursday.

Sieve Uddin, a furniture dealer by trade, is the president of the Awami League, Ward 7 of the Matiganj Union.

According to the police and local sources, Tamiz Uddin has a furniture store in front of his house. He took the girl to the store and raped her on October 1 around 8 a.m. while she was going to private classes.

The father of the raped girl is an employee of the store. Sieve Uddin threatened to kill the boy and his father if he told anyone about the incident. Not only that, he also beat his wife to keep her mouth shut after witnessing the rape.

Later, when the rape incident in the area became known, social networks were spread on Facebook.

The student’s mother filed a case against Tamiz Uddin at the Sonagazi Model Police Station Thursday night. The Sonasagazi Model Police arrested him after the case.

Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sonagazi-Daganbhuiyan) Saikul Ahmed Bhuiyan told Jugantar that the accused was arrested after a case was registered at the police station in connection with the rape case. The child will be sent to the hospital for a medical examination.
