Activists from the Awami League beat 48-year-old Ashiq Iqbal of former Singra MP Yakub Ali, 48, and seriously injured him during a mourning demonstration in August and a trivial incident in the village of Lakshikhola in Sukash Union. The attack took place at 7:30 pm on Friday in the Ranbagha Bazar area of the Natore-Bogra highway. Meanwhile, local people beat the three attackers from the scene and handed them over to the Pashwati Nandigram police station. And when the leader of the A’League, Ashiq Iqbal, was taken to the Singra Upazila Health Complex, the doctor rushed him to the Bogra Shaheed Zia Medical College Hospital.
According to sources, Md Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, president of the Singra Municipal Awami League and president of Upazila Parishad, organized a memorial meeting for the martyrs killed on August 15 and 21 in Singra. Local Awami League leaders and activists led by the son of former MP Ashiq Iqbal attended the commemorative meeting. This led to a dispute with the leaders of the Awami League and the Sukash Union workers. Because of this, Awami League leaders and activists attacked Ashiq Iqbal at the Ranbagha fish market on Friday night. He was stabbed in the head, arms and legs with a hammer and a sharp weapon. Later, the locals chased and arrested Hashem, Munnaf and Rabiul and handed them over to the police. Meanwhile, the detainees were immediately attacked by locals and said that the main culprit in this incident was the Secretary General of the Sukash Union Awami League, Halim Md. Hasmat Ali.
However, Halim Md Hasmat Ali, general secretary of the Sukash Union Awami League, said that he was not involved in the incident in any way. My name has been taken from the detainees as a precautionary measure to humiliate me.
Dr Shirin Akhter Setu, a doctor on duty at Singra Upazila Health Complex, said that the head of the injured man had been cut deeply. There are also signs of injuries to the hands, feet, and body. He was sent to Bogra Medical College Hospital.
In this sense, said the president of the Awami Municipal League of Singra and president of Upazila Parishad, Md. Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, is a reflection of the plan adopted by the criminals to tarnish the politics of the future.
However, the president of the Awami League. Ohidur Rahman Sheikh said the attack took place in a rural dispute. The terrorist attacked shortly after noon in front of a gathering of mourners.
Singra Police Station OC Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui said the incident took place in Nandigram, on the outskirts of Singra. So the Nandigram police are investigating the matter.
