The former head of Hefazat-e-Islam, Shah Ahmad Shafi, has claimed that he was a victim of the planned assassination of Jamaat-Shibir. Moin Uddin.

He told a press conference at the Chittagong Press Club on Saturday that Ahmed Shafi was killed in a Jamaat-Shibir attack on Hathazari Madrasa on September 18.

He asked the Prime Minister to form a judicial inquiry committee to investigate the death.

The press conference also demanded the cancellation of the Hefazat-e-Islam delegates conference to be held in Hathazari Madrasa on November 15. A group is also alleged to be conspiring to hand over Hefazat to BNP-Jamaat through this council.

In a written statement, Moin Uddin claimed that on September 18, some madrasa students blocked the Hathazari madrasa with the help of cadres from Jamaat-Shibir. Junaid Babungari was staying in the madrasa that day and with the help of some people such as Mir Idris, Nasir Uddin Munir, Mufti Harun Izhar, and Enamul Hasan, he carried out acts of violence and looted the funds of the madrasa.

At that moment, the attackers forcibly entered Shafi’s room and carried out acts of violence and looting. He also claimed that they had insulted and threatened Shafi.

Shafi was forced to resign as CEO of the madrasa, he added.

He said that Shafi became very ill at that time. During this time, Shafi’s oxygen supply was cut off multiple times and he fell into a coma.

The ambulance was blocked while Shafi was transferred from Madrasa to Chittagong Hospital. Thus, he was pushed to the brink of certain death, he added.

Moin Uddin said that Ahmed Shafi has been beaten several times for his stance in favor of the country’s independence. The Jamaat-e-Islami had long resented him for taking an open stand against freedom fighters (Jamaat-e-Islam).
