Four people, including Saifur and Arjun, gang-raped a housewife inside a private car on the night of September 25 while her husband was detained in the dormitory of MC College in Sylhet.
Subsequently, the defendant stopped the car to destroy the gang rape signs. However, Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SI) Deputy Police Inspector Shahparan (SI) said. The defendant was unable to do so because Sohail Rana entered the bedroom at that time.
Standing at the entrance to the dormitory, while waiting for permission from the school authorities to enter, a team of police officers was washing the car and preparing to destroy the violation signs.
The information came from confessional statements by Saifur Rahman and Arjun Laskar, the main defendants in the rape case. They said in a statement that they had raped four housewives, including two of them, four times in a car in the bedroom. Her partner Rabiul Islam aided in the rape. They wanted to remove the violation signs from the car to cover up the violation. But the defendants mentioned in their statement that they fled after seeing the police.
In their statement, Saifur and Arjun said they raped a total of four housewives, including two or four times inside a private car inside the bedroom. Rabiul Islam collaborated in the violation. The two came to their bedroom on motorcycles. However, Rabiul did not rape. Later, they wanted to say goodbye to the housewife and her husband and remove the violation marks from the car to cover up the violation.
On Saturday afternoon (3 October), after the pre-trial detention of three more defendants in the gang rape case, Sylhet Md. Ziadul Islam’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate was brought to court. All three defendants in the case, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Misbauer Rahman Rajan and Ainuddin, have made confessional statements under section 164 in court.
DNA samples were collected from two more defendants on Saturday. DNA samples were collected from Tarekul Islam Tareq and Mahfuzur Rahman Masum at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet.
They were taken to the hospital under police surveillance around 12:15 pm on Saturday. Shortly after, they were taken back to the police station.
Saifur Rahman, Arjun Laskar, Rabiul Islam, Shah Mohammad in the One Stop Crisis Center (OCC) lab at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital last Thursday. Mahbubur Rahman alias Shah Rony, Md. DNA samples were collected from Rajan and Ain Uddin.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (Media) Deputy Commissioner Jyotirmoy Sarkar said DNA samples had been taken from six people previously arrested. Samples were taken from the other two defendants in Saturday’s statement.
On the night of September 25, a housewife was gang-raped while going to MC College with her husband. At around 8:30 pm, BCL leaders and activists took her husband’s housewife and raped her in a private car in front of the bedroom. At that time, two people detained her husband in front of the university.
The husband of the housewife filed a case at the Shahparan Police Station. Three unidentified people, including six BCL leaders and activists, were charged in the case. The BCL activists accused of gang rape are supporters of Ranjit Sarkar, former secretary for sports and youth affairs of the Awami League of Sylhet district.
In this incident, the RAB and the police arrested six more defendants and two more suspects. The police dispatched the eight detained people step by step. Three of them made confessional statements on Friday.
