Police recovered the body of a young man named Wasek Sattar alias Abir (25) from Hatirjheel in the capital on Tuesday night. He returned to Dhaka from Jessore with his mother last Monday.

Wasek’s father is Abdus Sattar, a professor in the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Kushtia Islamic University. He is the former Vice Chancellor of the Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST).

Police and his family say that Wasek Sattar studied software engineering at the University of Uttar Pradesh (UPM) in Putramala, Malaysia.

According to Hatirjheel police, Wasek returned to the country from Malaysia due to Corona and was living in a rented house in the Dhanmondi area. Wasek fell into the Sattar water from Hatirjheel Bridge on Tuesday night. The visitors rescued him and took him to Insaf Barakah Private and General Kidney Hospital in Maghbazar. The doctor on duty declared him dead. After an autopsy at the Dhaka Medical College morgue on Wednesday, the body was taken to his home in Palbari in Jessore.
