The police arrested Akash Pandey, 18, for hiding his body after killing his mother in Kotalipara in Gopalganj. According to his confession, the police recovered a bottle of cremation oil. The one arrested is Akash, son of Manoranjan Pandey from Kalikabari village in Radhaganj junction of Kotalipara upazila.
The Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mohammad Chanowar Hossain confirmed the information in a press conference at the office of the Additional Superintendent of Police in Gopalganj on Friday afternoon (September 25).
He said that on the night of June 26, his mother Akash asked her son Akash for food. At that moment, Akash hit her mother on the head with a stick while trying to hit her with a stick. The laughter died on the spot. Later, Akash carried the body out of the house in a boat. There, the body was placed on a pile of dry wood, kerosene oil poured and burned.
After this incident, Akash searched for her mother in different locations and then filed a case with her father at the Kotalipara Police Station accusing four people, including Nana Juran Barai. Juran, the father of the murdered Hasi Pandey, became very angry and filed a lawsuit against five people, including his son-in-law Manoranjan Pandey, claiming that he had beaten his daughter to death for dowry.
Later, the police arrested Akash Pandey, the eldest son of the murdered Hasi Pandey, on Thursday night (September 24) after an investigation. He confessed to killing his mother and burning her body to death during police questioning. Police sent him to jail through court on Friday afternoon.
