After Ladakh of India and the South China Sea, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is now analyzing the territory of Bhutan. The next 25 border negotiations could include a demand by the western state of Bhutan on China’s favorable terms. The Hindustan Times reported this on Sunday citing those who are aware of the matter.
That said, however, Thimphu is at the highest level sensitive to the threat posed by the Chinese military. Beijing is likely to reclaim the western part of the state in upcoming talks.
Bhutan is located along the Siliguri corridor. It is the focal point of the central national security of India. According to Indian media, any regional agreement reached by Bhutan would negatively affect Indian security in the region.
According to Indian diplomatic and security sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Bhutan assisted India during the 63-day Chinese military presence in Dokalam.
Bhutan claims 316 square kilometers in the western sector and 495 square kilometers in the central sector. That said, China has continued its expansionary policy under peaceful coexistence. Roads, construction and renovation of military infrastructure continue, rejecting aggressive patrols and entry through the military. Chinese forces continue to intimidate the relatively small Royal Army of Bhutan.
