Span 32 ‘One-D’ is sitting on Padma Bridge today, Saturday (Oct 10). You will see 4,600 meters of the bridge. Authorities have already completed all preparations for the installation of the section. Four months after the installation of section 31, section 32 is going to settle.
Padma Bridge executive engineer Saturday morning (main bridge) Dewan. Abdul Quader has confirmed this information.
He said that the water in the Padma has receded, but now there are many currents in the river. Even then there are final preparations for the laying of the span. The section will be brought to the pillar by a floating crane from the Mawa Kumarbhog Construction Yard around 10:30 am. The section will be placed on the 4th and 5th pillars of the bridge.
The last section 31 was installed on the Padma bridge on June 10 this year. Other works are being carried out on the bridge due to the Corona situation and flooding, but no sections have been installed since then. As the flood situation lessened, the water level in Padma began to drop. Members of the expert team have also returned from China. The bridge authorities have made final preparations for the installation of span 32 of the bridge.
People concerned about the bridge said that in addition to One-D, spans ‘One-A’, ‘One-B’, ‘One-C’ are fully ready. The next four spans will be placed on pillars 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 and 4-5. The remaining 10 pillars, including 33, are scheduled to be installed in December.
The construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. The Padma Bridge became visible on September 30, 2016 with the installation of the first span on Pillars 37 and 38. Then 31 spans were placed one by one. Four thousand 650 meters of the bridge have been seen.
The 6.15 km long Padma Bridge will be built by placing 41 150 m long spans on 42 piers. All the pillars are already visible. China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the construction of the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another company in the country, is working on governance of the river. Abdul Momen Limited from Bangladesh has built two roads and connecting infrastructure.
The main shape of the 6.15 km long Padma Bridge will be two-story. The bridge structure is being built with concrete and steel. The Padma Bridge will open in 2021 after its completion.
