After nearly six months floating at sea, 300 Rohingya Muslims finally had a chance to land in Indonesia’s Aceh province early Monday. The Indonesian government has confirmed the information.

Aceh province police say the Rohingya fled Myanmar in a wooden boat, fearing for their lives. The boat was discovered by local fishermen in Aceh province, and Rohingya Muslims landed on Ujung Balang Beach shortly after midnight. There are 181 women and 14 children on board.

Junaidi Yahya, head of the local Red Cross committee, said the Rohingya Muslims had been placed in a temporary shelter.

Previously, fishermen in Aceh province rescued more than 100 Rohingya Muslims in June. The group consisted of 49 women and 30 children. Previously, the Indonesian government threatened to deport Rohingya Muslims.

Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims have been forced to take refuge in Bangladesh because they have not been able to withstand attack by Myanmar government security forces and extremist Buddhists.
