Dhaka: Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, the expelled president of the South Metropolitan Juba League of Dhaka, who was arrested in a casino case, has been returned to jail after a year.

The emperor was taken back to Dhaka Keraniganj Central Jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) on Wednesday (October 8).

Subhash Kumar Das, (acting) superintendent of Dhaka Central Jail, said the emperor was brought back to jail from the hospital around 12pm on Wednesday night. Now the emperor is admitted to the prison hospital.

Earlier, on October 8 last year, the emperor was arrested in 14 Kuomilla villages in an operation against cacophony. Later, the emperor was questioned in weapons and drugs cases. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) later accused him of acquiring assets outside of known income.
