It has been decided to take the admission exams for first-year students in the public universities of the country. The decision was made at a virtual meeting of the Bangladesh University Council, an organization of public university presidents.

However, the decision on the date and procedure of the examination will be announced later, the rectors said.

The Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, told The Daily Star: “We have decided that there will be examinations for the admission of students to universities. However, no decision has been made on how to take the test online or in person. In addition, Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Shirin Akhter said the university council will hold another meeting soon to discuss the admission testing system.

Due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, there was confusion in the university admissions process after the government decided to award grades without upper secondary exams and equivalents.

Higher education results will be given based on the results of the High School Certificate (JSC) and High School Certificate (SSC) exams, the Ministry of Education said.
