Students from Jahangirnagar University (JU) have announced that they will take legal action if they do not leave the room by 10 am on Monday (February 22).

The information was released in a circular signed by the acting university registrar Rahima Kaniz on Sunday (February 21) at 1 a.m.

The statement said that last Saturday, several students broke the locks in several hallways in defiance of government orders and took a position. The university administration is telling them to leave the room on their own initiative before 10 am on Monday. Otherwise, the university administration will take legal action against the students.

On the other hand, students were unable to enter the university last Saturday when the lock was broken. As a result, the students threatened to break the lock if the hallway was not opened by 12 noon on Monday.

Samia Hasan, a university student, told Ittefaq: “If the university administration does not open the room before 12 noon on Monday, we will enter with the students if the lock is broken.”

Outraged students have also announced counterprograms. In a press release, the students said that all offices, rooms, attorneys and rectors of the university would be locked up within the next 24 hours if they were not accommodated and the Gerua gang could not be tried.

The students filed a three-point lawsuit in front of the vice-chancellor’s residence on Saturday over clashes between Jahangirnagar University students and locals in Gerua. The university administration accepted the two demands of the students but did not accept the demands of the students to go to the room due to state restrictions. Later, the students broke the hallway lock and took up position in their own hallway.
