The central bank has made it mandatory for bank officials to maintain certain numbers for the promotion of the banking diploma. From now on, if an officer does a diploma, a certain number will be added to his promotion.

On Tuesday (October 13), the Banking Policy and Regulation Department of the Bank of Bangladesh issued a circular on the matter.

Some banks are known to have now added bank diploma numbers for the promotion of their officers, but many banks are not adding specific numbers. Therefore, it has been made mandatory to add the diploma number to the promotion with importance.

The circular sent to the managing director and chief executive officer of the commercial bank said that the Institute of Bankers of Bangladesh (IBB) conducted a two-phase banking diploma examination for bank officers and employees. Its main objective is to enhance the decision-making capacity of bankers by acquiring basic knowledge related to the banking sector. In addition, the Banking Diploma Exam helps to acquire banking knowledge and professional excellence for bank officers.

In light of these considerations, the central bank has requested to amend the bank’s existing promotion policy with a view to creating more skilled and knowledgeable officials in the banking sector.

According to the new guidelines, the Banking Diploma, Part I (JAIBB) is one of the total number of promotions in each step from now on, from officer and equivalent positions to general manager and equivalent (all officers except one level immediately per below CEO, whatever the name is). ) And the examinations of the Banking Diploma, Part II (DAIBB) must be assigned a certain number. Banking diploma, the exam number of the second part cannot be less than the first episode.

These conditions can be relaxed in the case of technical positions (IT officers, doctors, engineers, law enforcement officers, etc.) and cashier officers. And the policy in this regard has to be approved by the Bank’s Board of Directors. The directive was issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the 1991 Banking Companies Act. The directive will take effect immediately, the central bank said.
