Adab League leader Thana Awami arrested with guns and yaba

The RAB arrested a Burmese man named Moniruzzaman aka Monir with guns and yaba from Adab in the capital. Monir Adab Thana is the Vice President of the Awami League. On Thursday night, he was arrested after a raid on the 1/2 Pisciculture Housing Society home. There are about 60 cases against him on charges of possession, weapons and terrorist activities. There are reports of occupation and extortion in the vicinity of Dhaka Udyan, Nabinagar Housing, Chandrima Udyan adjacent to Shekhertek and the Mohammadpur embankment by the terrorist forces of Monir. RAB-2 operations officer Mamun confirmed his arrest and said: “We will give details in a press release.”

After speaking with RAB officials and several locals, it emerged that when the campaign against casinos began, Monir and his family fled to the United States overnight with dollars full of luggage. When the situation normalized, he began occupying Dhaka Udyan, Nabinagar Housing and Chandrima Udyan after returning to the country on Eid-ul-Adha. In the past three months, Monir has occupied four parcels in Dhaka Udyan only by producing false documents. There are over 50 cases and GD against Monir in Mohammadpur Police Station and Court alone on charges of extortion, extortion, drugs, weapons, torture of women, robbery and other criminal activities.

Monir Bangladesh Biman junior analyzer Kazi Ashraf Al Quader and his wife Vikarunnisa Noon School and College, senior teacher Khadija Akter took possession of the plot. Another victim, retired army officer Mostafa Nazim, demanded money from Monir when construction began this year on a house on a plot of land on Road No. 1 in Block C of Dhaka Udyan. Barkat Ullah, owner of Azhar Enterprise on Bochila Road in Mohammadpur, was attacked and looted by terrorists from Monir. About a decade and a half ago, BNP neighborhood councilor Abu Saeed Bepari confiscated Monir’s wives in the Mohammadpur area. He used to run extortion and occupation businesses with the help of some local councilors and leaders of the Awami League.

Speaking with RAB officials, it emerged that Monir was involved in the yaba business. Atiq, a deputy police inspector who worked at the Mohammad Police Station at one time, used to carry consignments of yaba from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka on his behalf. Atiq was arrested a couple of months ago and is in jail. According to information received from Atiq, the police arrested another member, Monir’s close associate Humayun, but the police did not arrest godfather Monir. The RAB arrested him on Thursday.
