The hanging body of a housewife named Zakia Sultana (18) has been recovered from Sujanagar in Pabna.
Police recovered her body from her husband’s home in Masjidpara in Sujanagar municipality on Wednesday morning.
The husband of the deceased, Mim Hossain (30), has run away since the incident.
The victim’s family claimed that her husband hung the body with a fan after killing Zakia.
Zakia Sultana was the daughter of Hasan Ali from Patwa village in Sadullapur junction of Pabna Sadar upazila and a 10th grade student at the local Dublia Fazillatunesha girls’ secondary school.

Rashida Khatun, the mother of the deceased, told Jugantar that Zakia and Mim were married seven months ago for love. Then she finds out that her husband is a drug addict. Often there were fights with the two. Mim also used to beat Zakia. After killing Zakia by suffocation sometime Wednesday night, Mim fled leaving her body hanging with a fan.
Meanwhile, the locals said that Mim had married a Sujanagar girl in love earlier. But a few months after discovering that Mim was intoxicated, the girl divorced him.
The Sujanagar OC Badruddoza police station told Jugantar that the body was sent to Pabna’s morgue for autopsy. After receiving the report, it will be known how he died. The corresponding measures will be taken.
