The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, has said that about 90 percent of the work on the main bridge of the Padma Bridge project has been completed. He said more than 71 percent of the overall work on the Padma Bridge project has been completed.

He said this while addressing a progress review meeting on the Padma Bridge project here on Friday. Obaidul Quader joined the meeting through a videoconference from the official residence of the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges.

The bridge minister said the Padma bridge is now visible at 4,650 meters. Work on 42 piers has already been completed, and river governance work is 64 percent complete. He also said that the connection work for the highway and the toll plaza at the end of Mawa and Jajira was completed.

So far, 31 of the 41 spans have been installed, he said.

Obaidul Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will open the country’s first Drishtinandan highway from Dhaka to Mawa and from Pachchar to Bhanga.
