Two Bangladeshi cricketers, Abdur Razzak and Shahriar Nafis, have officially retired from all forms of cricket.
They officially announced their retirement during the lunch break on the third day of the Bangladesh-West Indies event at the Sher-e-Bangla cricket stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
Although they were not into international cricket for some time, these two cricketers played national cricket.
Shahriar Nafis and Abdur Razzak spoke to BBC Bangla in this regard.
‘I want to contribute off the field now’
After retiring, Shahriar Nafis Ahmed was appointed Deputy Manager of the Cricket Operations Division of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
“I have been playing cricket for 21 years,” he said. I think that, as a cricketer, I can contribute as much as I can, off the field, but I can contribute much more. ”
“Since the Bangladesh Cricket Board created that opportunity, I have decided to step down now to take advantage of that opportunity.”
According to ESPN Cricketinfo, left arm first-order hitter Nafis has played 24 tryouts and 85 ODI. His highest score is 137 on tests and 123 on ODI. He played 124 first-class matches.
Shahriar Nafees says the next generation of cricketers will fill his vacancy.
“There is no gap, my next generation of cricketers will be able to fill that gap,” he said. I’m leaving a place where Bangladesh cricket has come a long way. Glad to think I’ve made some small contributions along the way. “

‘I will always miss the game‘
Another cricketer, bowler Abdur Razzak, officially left cricket on Saturday.
However, despite leaving the field, he has been appointed as a coach on the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Abdur Razzak told BBC Bangla: “International matches have not been played for a long time and national matches have not been played for a long time. In fact, one time or another to leave the game.
” The cricket board had an offer, I can join as selector. Maybe a little earlier, but still okay. I had to quit the game at one point or another. I have to adapt to a new place, or I have a little more time for that, ” he said.
After playing first-class cricket for twenty years in a row, Abdur Razzak will now act as coach. However, the game will be lost in the future.
” There is no reason not to miss this. I have played for so long, I will miss it very naturally. Even then, the reality is that we have to move on at some point. ”
Abdur Razzak has played 13 tests and 153 ODI. He has played 34 Twenty20 games. He played 138 first-class matches.
