A young man driving a motorcycle was killed when a car hit him in Doarabazar upazila of Sunamganj. The accident occurred on the Doarabazar-Pandargaon highway in the Beanibazar area of upazila on Sunday night. One of the injured teens is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The deceased was identified as Russell Mia, 20. He is the son of Ali Haider from the village of Pandargaon in the Pandargaon union of the upazila. The name of the injured teenager is Fazail Ahmed (18). His home is in Chandipur, Mannargaon village, union of the Upazila.
Police said Russell Mia used to rent a motorcycle in the area. He was on his way to Pandargaon from Doarabazar around 10 p.m. Sunday on a motorcycle carrying the teenager Fazail Ahmed as a passenger. Russell was killed instantly when he was struck by a streetcar coming from the opposite direction after reaching the Beanibazar market area. Fazail was rescued and admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Doarbazar Police Officer in Charge (CO) Mohammad Nazir Alam said Russell Mia’s body was recovered overnight and sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The car was impounded, but the driver escaped.
