The RAB arrested six members of the international snake venom smuggling ring from the Dakshin Khan area of the capital, Dhaka. At that time, snake venom with a value of approximately Tk 75 crore was found.

These are: Md. Masud Rana (24), Md. Chafir Uddin Shanu (50), Maryland. Tamjidul Islam alias Monir (34), Md. Alamgir Hossain (26), Firoza Begum (58) and Asma Begum (42). According to the RAB, when they wanted to know about the snake venom after the arrest, they refused at first. After searching their bags, they found 8 kg 96 g (including the vial) of snake venom in a glass vial. Its estimated market value is 75 crore rupees. In addition, they have CDs and manual books on snake venom. According to questioning, they are active members of the international snake venom smuggling ring.
