Jonaid Saki, chief coordinator of the party’s mass solidarity movement, and Nurul Haque Nur, former vice president of the Dhaka University Student Parliament and joint coordinator of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, are currently leading independent organizations. However, they are thinking of joining together and forming a new party or alliance. In this process, Dr. Jafrullah Chowdhury and the leaders of an organization called ‘Rashtra Chinta’ also participate.
According to the sources of the entrepreneurs, they will carry out the program jointly before the final team. Meanwhile, they have held a joint rally at the National Shaheed Minar on November 26 to mark the anniversary of Maulana Bhasani’s death. Maulana Bhasani Anusari Parishad, Gana Sanghati Andolan, Students-Youth and Workers’ Rights Parishad and Rashtra Chinta participated together in the demonstration.
Leaders involved in the process say the entire process is time consuming, dependent on the highway program, and will go through increased scrutiny. From there, if any other like-minded party joins in, the initiative can take the form of an alliance.
Another source claimed that the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, led by Nurul Haque Nur, has already proposed merging with the mass solidarity movement. However, the responsible leaders have directly denied the matter.
Several leaders of the Gana Sanghati movement said that Gana Sanghati has always been interested in uniting programs against the current government. In this case, the next step depends on political understanding and sincerity.
Asked by the Bengali Tribune, one of the members of the party’s central political council said: “There is a desire to give many programs together, there is even the possibility of forming an alliance.” However, none of the leaders agreed to bear the names of Jonaid Saki and Nurul Haque to form a new party.
Previously, the Democratic Workers Party, led by the late politician Abdus Salam, merged with Gana Sanghati Andolan in 2010. Gana Sanghati leader Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu told the Bengali Tribune that before joining the Gana Sanghati movement in 2010, an organization called the Krishak Federation merged with the Mazdoor Party in 2009. The following year, Abdus Salam and Dewan Abdur Rashid joined their party in the mass solidarity movement.
According to a trusted source in the Gana Sanghati movement, Gana Sanghati is in favor of building a broader movement against the ruling Awami League government. Party leaders are in favor of minimal political unity with all parties except Jamaat-e-Islami, which opposes the liberation war. And the issue of the formation of a new party or alliance can come to the fore only after the main strength of the organization interested in unification, leadership and the position of its leaders and workers in the joint program and position on other topics are clear.
Another member of the Political Solidarity Council thinks: ‘The process is not yet secure. The team may or may not be back. However, the process of political unity will continue.
When asked, Nurul Haque Nur, joint coordinator of Bangladesh Chhatra Parishad, told the Bengali Tribune: To that end, we, the four organizations, have organized a joint rally on November 26 at the Shaheed Minar on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Maulana Bhasani.
When asked how likely he is to form a new party, Haque said: “We are not forming a new party now. We want the unity of all parties to save democracy.” We start small. I hope it advances day by day ”.
According to various political sources, the special initiative to commemorate Maulana Bhasani has aroused interest in the BNP’s high-level initiative. A party official said: “Of course the BNP is happy with this initiative.” However, a senior leader of the mass solidarity movement said: “Solidarity has been commemorating Maulana regularly for the last 25 years since its inception, not all of a sudden.”
Leaders associated with the initiative said that Gana Sanghati Andolan, Student, Youth and Workers Rights Council, Maulana Bhasani Anusari Parishad and Rashtra Chinta held a joint rally at Shaheed Minar on November 26. He is likely to hold talks with other interested organizations on December 12. That day more will be said to deepen this topic.
If you want to know about the new party and possible alliance, Maulana Bhasani, the president of the council. Jafrullah told the Bengali Tribune: ‘None of that yet. Nobody wants to sit in such a situation of the country, suspicious of each other. No attempt. We have to get out of the existing situation in the country. But the problem in the big teams. I told everyone: call the others, gather everyone. ‘
Hasnat Qayyum, a member of Rashtra Chinta, told the Bengali Tribune: “It is not yet about forming a party or an alliance. In the situation we find ourselves in, I believe that those who are sincere in solving the crisis in this state should work together “.
When asked, Jonaid Saki, chief coordinator of the mass solidarity movement, told the Bengali Tribune on Sunday night: “We have gathered focused on Maulana Bhasani. I met last Saturday. I am thinking of working together in the future. I am trying to build a broader movement to establish democracy in the country.
