A naval officer was killed when a train derailed at Madambibirhat in Chittagong’s Sitakunda. The incident took place in the Madambibirhat Navy Gate area in the Bhatiari Union of the upazila around 7:30 pm on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 24 years old. He was serving as Lance Corporal in the Bangladesh Navy. His home is said to be in the Jessore district.
According to local sources, the Navy officer Masud Rana worked as a Corporal Lance at Madambibirhat Banauj in Bhatiari, Sitakunda. On Wednesday night, he inadvertently fell under the Karnafuli Express bound for Chittagong in front of his workplace.
He was rescued by his companions and admitted to CMH, at 8:30 pm the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The Fauzdarhat railway police outpost, SI Zahirul Islam in charge, confirmed the incident and said that Navy officer Masud Rana was taken to CMH when he was hit by a train. There the doctors declared him dead. However, he couldn’t be sure which train was cut off. He said the body would be handed over to his family following legal procedures.
