A mother and her two daughters were burned in an explosion in a building in Feni. The blast took place at midnight on Friday (March 5) on the fifth floor of a six-story building at Shafiq Mansion in Dulamiya Bailen on Shahidullah Kaiser Road in Feni Township.

The burn victims were first admitted to the 250-bed General Hospital in Feni. Later, the mother and daughter were sent to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka at night. Another girl was released with first aid.

The explosion also damaged the third, fourth and sixth floors of the building. However, the cause of the explosion was not known until 1 pm on Saturday (March 8).

Police, fire service and local sources said the blast took place on the fifth floor around 12 p.m. Friday. The whole area shook with a loud noise. Upon receiving the news, the police and firefighters from the Feni police station came to the scene. The people of the neighborhood also advanced.

Meherun Nesha, 40, and her two daughters were burned in the blast. The mother and a daughter, Hafsa Islam (15), were taken to Dhaka. The owner of the house is an expat. The mother rents this house with her two daughters. The explosion shattered the window grille of the house. The verandah walls collapsed and fell onto the roof of the adjoining building. Things have been destroyed inside the house.

Feni 250-bed general hospital, RMO said. Iqbal Hossain Bhoona said: ‘The two people who have been transferred to Dhaka, 80 percent of their bodies have been burned. One has been released with first aid.

Feni Model Police Officer (OC) said. Alamgir Hossain said: ‘That building has suffered a lot of damage. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) in Dhaka have been briefed to determine the cause of the explosion. The house is currently under police surveillance.
