A list of 8,549 duty-free products has been published in China

Dhaka: The Ministry of Commerce has published a list of 6,549 duty-free products in China. Meanwhile, if such facilities provided by China can be used, it will open new doors for Bangladesh in world trade, as well as the economic base of Bangladesh will be stronger, think the people concerned.

The 1,289-page list was posted on the Commerce Ministry website on Sunday (October 11).

According to the Ministry of Commerce, while the export market was shrinking due to the global coronavirus epidemic, Bangladesh gained 97 percent duty-free access to 5,161 more products in the Chinese market. On June 18, the Chinese government announced duty-free access to a total of 8,256 new products. This facility has been in effect since July 1. But the Ministry of Commerce could not publish them on the website because they were in Chinese. Although late, the list of those products was finally published in English by the Ministry of Commerce.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the Ministry of Commerce issued a letter to FBCCI, BGMEA and BKMEA on June 24 after the Chinese government announced the duty-free facilities.

The letter read: “After lengthy negotiation, on June 16, China granted Bangladesh duty-free access to 98 percent of its products, or 8,256 products.” Effective from July 1, 2020. List of duty-free and quota-free products provided by China in the ‘Import and Export Tariff of the People’s Republic of China, 2020’ http://gss.mof.gov.cn Available on the web link. Instructions are requested to inform all members of your organization about the provision of duty and quota free access to 98% of Bangladesh products exported to the Chinese market. ‘
