Feni: Sieve Uddin Nayan, the leader of Uncle Sonagazi’s Matiganj Union neighborhood Awami League, has been in pretrial detention for seven days in connection with the rape of his teenage niece in Sonagazi. On the other hand, the Awami League has permanently expelled him from the group.
The Sonagazi police presented Nayan at the Kamrul Islam High Judicial Magistrate Court at noon on Friday (October 9).
The investigating officer in the case, Sonagazi OC Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Abdur Rahim Sarkar, said the court granted a seven-day pre-trial detention after police requested a 10-day pre-trial detention.
According to the police, a statement under article 22 was taken after the girl’s physical examination.
The student’s mother filed a case against Nayan under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act at the Sonagazi Model Police Station on Thursday night. He has been shown arrested in this case.
On the 1st of this month, the girl was forcibly raped by her uncle Nayan while on her way to a private study in the morning. He threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone. The girl did not open her mouth out of fear. Clashes broke out in the area Thursday morning when the incident came to light. Nayan was arrested at his home in an immediate police operation based on the girl’s complaint that night.
Meanwhile, the accused leader of the Awami League, Tamiz Uddin Nayan, has been permanently expelled from the party. League President Matiganj Union Awami on Friday afternoon. Ismail Hossain and the secretary general. Mahfuz Alam issued the expulsion order through a press release.
