A journalist who was driving a motorcycle was killed when he was struck by an Ansar van and VDP in Patharghata in Barguna. The accident took place on the Patharghata-Bainchatki road adjacent to the Bainchatki government primary school in Patharghata’s Kakchira around 12 noon on Sunday. Locals blocked the road for an hour in protest.
The deceased was identified as KM Mostafizur Rahman, 25. He is the son of Solaiman Kabir Khan from Bainchatki village in Patharghata upazila. Mostafizur was Patharghata Upazila’s correspondent for the Dhaka Pratidin daily.
Local eyewitnesses said that journalist KM Mostafizur Rahman was going home in Bainchatki village on a motorcycle from the ferry terminal around noon on Sunday. At that time, a van of the government of Ansar and VDP struck the motorcycle in the Bainchatki area of ​​Patharghata upazila. Journalist Mostafizur Rahman was killed on the spot. When news of his death spread, locals blocked the road for hours, throwing tree trunks into the area. At that time, it also smashed the gathering of Ansar forces.
