Nuruzzaman Laltu (45), a Grameen Bank official, was killed by criminals while trying to collect weekly loan installments in Daulatpur in Kushtia. Police recovered his body from a house in the Dafadar Para area of ​​Filipinagar upazila around 9 pm on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Nuruzzaman, son of the late Matleb Qazi from the village of Kamalpur under the command of Laltu upazila.

Police said Nuruzzaman Laltu went to the Filipinagar area Thursday afternoon to collect weekly loan installments. After collecting the dues money from some houses, Laltu went to Momin Dafadar’s house in Dafadar Para to collect the money.

The Momin bank supervisor called Laltu inside the house and took him away. He tried to take the money from Laltu instead of paying the fee. At this time there was a fight between them. At one point, Momin hit Laltu on the neck with a sharp weapon. He died on the spot. Subsequently, the murderer left the body of the Banco Momin officer in the bathroom of the house, locked the house and fled with his family.

Salauddin, the manager of the Grameen Bank Hossainabad branch, said Laltu had his last conversation with him around 1 p.m. At that time, Laltu was heading to Momin Dafadar’s house after collecting money from the loan of 3 houses. After a while, Laltu was no longer available on the phone.

He said that Momin Dafadar had been running out of money for some time. Unable to find Laltu, the bankers and relatives went to Philippnagar village at night to look for him.

At that moment, they saw the motorcycle used by Laltu lying in front of Momin’s house. Later, they found Laltu’s body in the bathroom of the house and reported it to the police.

Daulatpur OC Zahurul Islam Police Station said they initially suspected the murder had taken place after collecting loan installments. Momin and his family have been on the run since the incident. An operation has already been launched to stop him.
