A Bangladeshi man killed in a BSF gunshot on the Patgram border

Abu Taleb, 32, was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on the Srirampur border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat. He was rescued and was being treated at a private clinic in Rangpur. He died Saturday night while receiving treatment there.

The deceased was identified as Abu Taleb, a resident of Dangirpar village in the Serampore union.

Patgram Thana – According to police and residents of the border area, a group of five to six Bangladeshi cattle transporters went to look for cows from India across the Srirampur border in Patgram on Friday morning. Members of the patrol team from the 148th BSF Battalion Panisala Camp in Kochbihar, India, shot at them. Abu Taleb was shot. His companions rescued him injured and admitted him to a private clinic in Rangpur. He died there last night. Patgram police recovered his body and sent him to the morgue for an autopsy on Sunday.

Subedar Khalilur Rahman, Burimari Land Port Camp Company Commander of Rangpur BGB 61st Battalion, confirmed the news.

The officer in charge of the Patgram (OC) Police Station Sumon Kumar Mahanta said the body was recovered and sent to the Lalmonirhat District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Abu Chayed, the elder brother of the deceased, has filed a lawsuit against the unidentified persons.
