The government has decided to launch three special train packages since Friday to transport agricultural products, vegetables, food and perishables from farmers. Among the three trains, the special packet train launched on the Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route has arrived at Dewanganj in Jamalpur as usual. But on the first day, the train left for Dhaka without reserving agricultural products or food.
According to railway sources, the special parcel train on the Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route left Dhaka for Dewanganj at 8 am on Friday. The train has five bogies for transporting goods and one bogie for members of the security forces and other railway employees. The train stopped at the Jamalpur train station at 1:54 pm. At this station, 24 packages reserved by two people were downloaded on March 23. The coolies officers and workers in the station’s package booking section unload the packages according to the rules of social distance and hygiene.
One of the parcels contained some furniture and the other a large parcel of mosquito nets and other items. Other than this, no government-announced package of farm produce, food and perishable goods has been made on the train. Jamalpur Station Chief Sheik Ujjal Mahmud, the officer-in-charge of the Jamalpur Railway Police Station, Tapash Chandra Pandit, and the station’s chief parcel assistant, Minhazul Abedin, were on hand at the occasion.
In this regard, the chief parcel assistant at the Jamalpur railway station, Minhazul Abedin, told Kaler Kanth that the non-agricultural products reserved by two people were reserved on March 23 and that the railway communication was closed as of March 24th. Previously booked packages have been shipped today. This route from Dhaka to Dewanganj has not been reserved for recently declared agricultural products. It seems to have been the first day. After a couple of days, it will be understood if the agricultural products will be reserved or not.
Later, the train left for Dewanganj and arrived at Dewanganj Bazar train station around 2:15 pm. According to the schedule, no farmer or agricultural merchant reserved any products until now before the train left for Dhaka around 6 p.m. As a result, the train left for Dhaka around 6pm without reserving any products.
Confirming the matter, Abdul Baten, acting station chief of the Dewanganj Bazar railway station, told Kaler Kantha: “No one has reserved any items from here today. Although the government launched the train to transport agricultural products and perishables, the The train was empty today because farmers and those involved in the trade in agricultural products, food, and perishables may not know it.
Jamalpur Railway Station Master Sheik Ujjal Mahmud told Kaler Kanth: “The government has brought many benefits to farmers and agricultural traders in the Jamalpur district by launching special package trains.” The cost of freight by train will also be much less than freight by truck. Today may be the first day that agricultural products have not been reserved. If the local administration and government agriculture department and even railway authorities launch a massive field-level campaign on rail freight, many people may be interested in reserving and transporting agricultural products by train.
