The transfer order for Saika Shahadat, an officer at Cox’s Bazar’s Pekua Upazila Nirbahi (UNO), has been suspended in Peru less than 24 hours after the scandal over a 15-ton rice scam.

A suspension order was issued on Friday in a circular signed by Additional Division Commissioner (General) Shankar Ranjan Saha of the Office of the Division Commissioner of Chittagong. In the same order, the appointment order of Brahman for Upazila Nirbahi Comilla Nazma Siddique Begum District Officer as the new UNO of Pekua has also been suspended.

Earlier in a public interest circular signed by Chittagong Additional Division Commissioner (General) Shankar Ranjan Saha on Thursday night, Nazma Siddique Begum was named new Pekua UN in Cox’s Bazar and asked to join the new venue I work before May 3. In another circular on the direction of the Ministry of Public Administration, Pekua UNO Saika Shahadat was attached to the Office of the Division Commissioner of Chittagong.

Incidentally, Pekua UNO Saika Shahadat was recently accused of being involved in the theft of 15 tons of rice. A case was brought against Jahedul Islam Chowdhury, president of Taitong Union Parishad (UP) under the Special Powers Law. He was later suspended by the local government ministry. But behind the rice scandal, locals have talked about UNO’s involvement on social media for the past few days. Due to this, Saika Shahadat was transferred and a notification was issued.
