Israel has launched air strikes in southern Syria. Helicopters fired rockets from the occupied Golan Heights towards Syria. Reuters quoted Syrian state media as saying.
The report said the target of Friday’s attack was a militant group backed by Iran. The attacker attacked shortly after noon in front of a military checkpoint in Quneitra, Syria. However, no victims were reported. The Israeli army has yet to comment on the attack.
The Iran-backed Islamist militant group Hezbollah has a strong presence in the region. The group has been the target of multiple Israeli attacks in recent years. Israel is considering continuing its attacks in the region, targeting Hezbollah, as the world’s attention shifts from the Corona virus epidemic. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the same. They say that Israeli forces have attacked Hezbollah targets on the main highway from Homs to Palmyra. Two weeks ago, Israel launched a drone attack on a Hezbollah convoy on the Lebanese border.
