At the Taltoli upazila in Barguna, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly tied to a tree and gang-raped by her mother for fear of death. The incident took place on April 23 in the Shubhsandha beach area of upazila.
A week after the incident, the victim went to the police station on Thursday night to present a case. But the police did not file a group rape case, but an attempted rape case.
The mother is known to have returned from her father-in-law’s house in Mathbaria, Pirojpur on April 23 with her only child. At this time he crossed the Patharghata ferry and arrived at the Taltali Good Evening Ghat. From there, he got on the local Zahirul motorcycle to go to the Nishanbaria ferry. Zahirul took the woman on a motorcycle into the deep forest on a good afternoon with various excuses. Later, Zahirul called his four talented associates (Emadul, Nazrul, Sohag, Saidul) and brought them there. They all tied up the girl and tied her to a tree and threatened to kill her. When the woman lost consciousness, the rapists fled. Later, when the woman regained consciousness, she sought refuge with the girl and the people by her side. But they took him to the Nishanbaria ferry on another motorcycle.
The victim’s housewife said: “Five people, including the motorcyclist Zahirul, tied my daughter to a tree and threatened to kill her.” I was later raped from 11 a.m. at 4 p.m. Later they knocked me unconscious. When I regained consciousness, I arrived in Nishanbaria on another motorcycle with the help of local people, crossed the ferry, and got home. ”
The woman added: “I did not complain for fear of public embarrassment. But as the matter became widely known, I was forced to go to the police station and seek justice. ”
According to several locals, motorcyclist Zahirul took the woman to the forest on the beach around 10 a.m. After a while he sees Emadul, Nazrul, Sohag, Saidul and Jungle. When the woman hit the road around 4 p.m. and made the incident public, she was taken to the Nishanbaria ferry on another motorcycle.
The Taltoli police officer in charge (OC) said. Kamruzzaman said the victim herself came to the police station to file a complaint. Your statement has been recorded. A case was filed at the police station accused of attempted rape. Attempts are being made to arrest the accused.
When asked about the attempted rape case, the OC said, “The victim has told us about the attempted rape.” We have taken that case.
