A few days ago, some small insects like grasshoppers attacked some trees in the village of Lombari, Teknaf upazila, in Cox’s Bazar. The Deputy Director of Cox’s Bazar of the Department of Agricultural Extension and officials from the local department of agriculture went to the scene and applied pesticides to control insects. Recently, when these insects reappeared as grasshoppers, the Ministry of Agriculture took the initiative with the greatest importance.

The ministry said a team of high-level entomologists from the Department of Agricultural Extension and the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute departed for Teknaf this morning. In addition, separate teams are dispatched from the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRI) and the Bangladesh Atomic Agriculture Research Institute (BINA). The team will work to prevent, control and destroy the lobster like grasshoppers.

The deputy director of the Cox’s Bazar Agricultural Extension Department said Friday that the tree bugs died after applying pesticides on Friday. He also said that there are no more live insects there. 7% haor paddy harvested:

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, about 7 percent of the boron rice in the haor has already been harvested. Boron rice is 10 percent ripe and 13 percent is not yet ripe. In addition, 16% boron paddy has been harvested across the country.
