Earlier, in a video message, the state minister of public administration said the government was considering a week-long lockdown on two-thirds of the days to curb the fast-growing corona infection.
The Secretary General of the Awami League and the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, said that the closure would start from next Monday (April 5).
When asked when the shutdown will begin, State Minister Farhad told banglanews that the issue will be mentioned in the notification. We inform in advance so people don’t get stuck anywhere else. You can take the preparation.
When asked about what will be closed in the lockdown, he said: “All of our emergency services, such as the DC office, the UNO office, the fire service, the disaster management office, the newspapers will be open.” .
The state minister said factories would remain open during the closure, adding that workers would work there in multiple shifts in accordance with health regulations. If factories are closed, people from the most infected districts will go home. This will increase the number of infections in those districts.
He said government and private offices would remain closed during the lockdown. Courts and all kinds of markets will be closed.
When asked if public transport would be closed during the lockdown, the state’s Minister of Public Administration said: “We are working on this.” When you issue a notice in this regard, it will be clearly mentioned there. There will be a notification tonight.
