The government will provide financial assistance to one crore 9,949 families on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr in the year of Mujib. For this purpose, 450 crore 44 lakh 8 thousand 50 taka have been allocated. The Disaster Relief and Management Ministry made the assignment on Wednesday (March 31), according to a press release.
According to the press release, under the VGF program, the allocation has been made with a total of one crore 9,949 VGF cards, including 6 lakh 69,203 for 492 upazilas in 64 districts and 12 lakh 30,648 for 328 municipalities. 395 crore 6 lakh 41,350 rupees were allocated for upazilas and 55 crore 36 lakh 35,700 rupees for municipalities at the rate of 450 rupees per card for the equivalent of 10 kg of rice per family. A total of 450 crore 44 lakh 8 thousand 50 rupees were allocated.
A press release signed by the ministry’s public relations officer, Selim Hossain, said that financial assistance would be provided to defenseless, destitute and extremely poor families to celebrate the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr with joy. In this case, priority will be given to families affected by recent natural calamities, afflicted and extremely poor. In the current cowardly situation, this assistance provided on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan will help increase the purchasing power of the poorest families.
