According to eyewitnesses and police sources, BNP leaders and activists led by BNP district convener Hafizur Rahman attempted to hold a protest procession in front of the party’s office around 12 noon as part of a central program to protest. for the murder of Hifazat workers in police shooting. Two to three minutes after the incident, BNP leaders and activists met again and began throwing bricks at the police from the east side of the party office. The police fired tear gas, rubber bullets and blank shots to control the situation. BNP leaders and activists clashed with the police for at least 20 minutes. As a result, traffic was stopped at the bridge crossing, the university crossing road and the KD crossing bridge road. Later, when additional police personnel were deployed from the Naogaon Sadar police station and police lines, BNP leaders and activists left the road.

The district’s BNP convener, Hafizur Rahman, said: “As part of the core program, we tried to hold a protest procession in front of the party office.” But the police began beating BNP leaders and activists for no reason. When BNP leaders and activists took position in front of the party office from the KD crossing, the police fired tear gas, rubber bullets and bullets. At least 50 party leaders and activists, including myself, were injured. BNP activist Mili Akhter and student leader Azizul, who were seriously injured in the police shooting, were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Others have been admitted to various clinics, including Naogaon Sadar Hospital.

Additional Police Superintendent Rakibul Akhter said BNP leaders and activists tried to remove the procession without permission. When they tried to lead the procession through the busiest road, the police officers present tried to stop them. At that point, BNP activists began throwing bricks at the police. The police also fired tear gas and rubber bullets to control the situation. Between six and seven policemen were injured in the attack by BNP workers. Preparations are under way to present a case in this regard.
