Hefazat Amir and Shaikhul Hadis of Hathazari Madrasa and Junaid Babungari, director of education at Hathazari Madrasa, warned of revenge for every drop of blood killed in the attack on a protest rally against the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It issued the warning in a statement sent to the media on Saturday (March 26). He called on Hefazat-e-Islam to protest the killings and injuries and called on people to observe a peaceful and orderly strike on Sunday (March 26) morning and evening.
In a statement, Hefazat Amir said: “An estimated six people have been martyred for shooting at the agitated Touhidi people in different parts of the country, including Dhaka Baitul Mokarram, Hathazari, Jatrabari and Brahmanbaria in protest of Modi’s arrival.” Such a heinous incident of police shooting in a peaceful movement can never be accepted. The administration must give an answer as to who ordered the attack on innocent and unarmed people and give exemplary punishment to the accused policemen.
Hefazat Amir also said that this movement of the Touhidi people was not against the country or the government. The movement was in protest of the arrival of Modi, the bloodthirsty Muslim, who destroyed Babri Masjid in Bangladesh. Such a barbaric attack by the police against the Touhidi people in this peaceful movement cannot be tolerated. I condemn and protest strongly.
Allama Babungari further said: “The people of Touhidi have held peaceful demonstrations in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, Chittagong and Hathazari, in protest at the arrival of Modi. There have been reports of attacks on protesters in various places. Four people were martyred by police shooting in Hathazari. The blood spilled from the bodies of martyrs will never be allowed to go in vain.
Babungari called on the government and administration to compensate those killed in the police shootings and to organize proper treatment for the wounded.
Hefazat Amir Babungari warned that if someone else spills blood on the Modi issue or attacks and harasses the ulama, the entire country will burn in protest. If necessary, Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh will be forced to announce a strict program in consultation with the leading ulama.
