The government will give 121 million rupees to the poor and homeless during Ramadan.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated Tk 121.64 crore for the distribution of aid to poor and distressed families in the country on the occasion of Ramadan. In each of the 4,057 unions in 64 districts of the country, a total of Tk 114.20 crore was released at the rate of Tk 2.5 lakh.

On the other hand, a total of Tk 5 crore 8 lakh was allocated in favor of 328 municipalities. Of this amount, two lakhs of rupees were allocated for each category ‘A’ municipality, one and a half lakhs of rupees for each municipality of category ‘B’ and one lakh of rupees for each municipality of category ‘C’.

This information was given in a notification from the ministry on Thursday.

He further said that apart from unions and municipalities, 7 lakh Tk was allocated to the corporations of the city of Dhaka South and North, Gazipur and Chittagong. The Mymensingh, Narayanganj, Comilla, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet City corporations were allotted 5 lakh rupees each. In addition, in 64 districts of the country, two lakhs of rupees have been allocated for category ‘A’, one and a half lakhs of rupees for category ‘B’ and one lakh of rupees for districts of category ‘C’ at the rate of a lakh of rupees.

The notice also said that the money could be spent to provide immediate food assistance to families affected by various natural calamities, including the Kovid situation, during the Mujib year.
