Around 5.30pm, 30-40 Chhatra Jote leaders and activists marched from TSC facilities to Shahbagh, returned to TSC and began burning Narendra Modi’s puppet in front of Das and chanting anti-India slogans.
According to Chhatra Jote leaders, some activists from the Chhatra League began to throw water from a distance to put out the Kushputul fire. At one point, BCL activists began throwing brick bats at BCL leaders and activists. When the leaders and activists of the alliance formed a resistance, the Chhatra League rallied and attacked them again, then both sides became involved in fighting. Chhatra League activists attacked the alliance workers with bamboo, sticks, helmets and benches. In addition, BCL activists snatched the coconut from the roadside coconut shop and began throwing it at the alliance leaders and workers. At least 20 to 25 members of the student alliance were injured. The injured were later rescued and received first aid at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.The injured were identified as Masud Rana, Central President of the Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Rashed Shahriar, General Secretary, Sadiqur Rahman Sadiq, Vice President of the DU Branch, Tama Barman, General Secretary of the DU Branch, Sumaiya Setu, Central Organizing Secretary of the union student, Asmani Asha, leader of the DU branch, Jabir Ahmed Jubel, president of the DU branch of the revolutionary student alliance.
