According to a Facebook post, 70-80 houses were vandalized and furniture was vandalized in the Noagaon village of Shalla upazila on Wednesday morning. Citing locals, the police said at the time that “followers of Hefazat-e-Islami” carried out the attack.

Locals allege that most of the attackers came from Nachni, in the independent village of Dirai. The attack took place that day in the ‘presence’ of the independents.
Investigators say Noagaon residents have a long-standing dispute with an independent member over Jalmahal. The names of the independent members have been mentioned in the words of several people who were injured in the attack.
So far, a total of 23 people have been arrested, including Shahidul Islam Swadhin.
