Clashes broke out between supporters of the two sides during the joyous BCL procession. A dozen leaders and activists from Dhaka University and the Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League were injured in the incident.
The incident took place in the central Shaheed Minar area of Dhaka University on Friday afternoon. The program was organized by the Central Student League to welcome the arrival of foreign guests to attend the centennial of the birth and the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Speaking with some leaders of the BCL central committee, it became known that the new BCL conference is behind the incident. Several central BCL leaders who were present at the scene said there was a program in the central Shaheed Minar area around 2 pm. At this time, leaders and workers from different branches began to arrive. The confrontation took place between the leaders and activists of the University of Dhaka and the Chhatra League of the Dhaka Metropolitan South Branch for increasing or decreasing the volume of the program’s sound system around 3 o’clock. About a dozen leaders and activists were injured.
Jubayer Ahmed, general secretary of the Dhaka South Chhatra League, alleged that his followers attacked first in the presence of Saddam Hussein. Seven or eight people, including him, were injured in the south of the metropolis.
Regarding the accusation, Saddam Hussein, general secretary of the DU Chhatra League, said: “We hired a sound system to make the show a success. Music was playing on the sound system in preparation for the show. At that moment some leaders and activists from the metropolis asked us to stop him and then the incident of our boys began. They attacked DU students. We will ask central leaders to take action against attackers.
Commenting on the incident, Jubayer Ahmed said: “We arrived at the central Shaheed Minar at the beginning of the program. At this time we give slogans to keep our leaders and workers alive. Then we asked some of the decorator managers to reduce the sound from the sound system. But Saddam Hussein supporters prevented it. At one point, they attacked our leaders. I was also injured in this attack.
Jubayer Ahmed complained that the Dhaka University campus is now closed. Their leaders are less. However, we prioritize them in any program. But they repeatedly take advantage of the situation and insult us in various ways.
Witnesses said the attackers tore down posters with photographs of the Prime Minister and President of the Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, and the father of the nation, Bangabandhu, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. And destroy the sound system.

Several central leaders of the BCL Central said that for a long time, some leaders and activists of the BCL DU have been trying to make the BCL Central controversial. They want a conference from the central student league. As a reason for the conference, they said that the general secretary of DU Chhatra League is nearing the end of his life, so if he cannot hold the conference now, he will not be able to participate in the conference.
