Pakistan’s captain and one of the best emerging hitters in the world, Babar Azam, is getting into legal trouble. Last year, a woman named Hamiza Mukhtar accused Babar of bullying and harassment. A Lahore court ordered the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) to bring a case against Babar for allegedly blackmailing and harassing the girl.
At a press conference in Lahore, Pakistan, on December 5 last year, Hamiza alleged that the two had been in a romantic relationship for 10 years. Babar has had sex with her many times with the promise of marriage. At one point, Babar forced an abortion when the baby was born. The author also provided Sesab’s medical documents as evidence. When he went to the Naserabad Police Station in Pakistan to file an FIR against Babar, Babar arrested him by promising to remarry him. But after Namdak, Babur refused to marry her. He later went to the police station to file a complaint, but the police did not take up the case.
That is why charges have been brought against Babar and two other people. At that time he presented a case in court, then the police were ordered to investigate the case. That case was never registered. However, Babar’s legal team received a suspension order from the Lahore High Court. The preliminary hearing was postponed until March 22 as Babur was in the biosecurity zone to play in the series against South Africa and then at PSL. Hamiza later complained of receiving threatening phone calls from unknown persons. The FIA found a number in the investigation, which was registered to Babar.
The FIA summoned Babar after the mobile numbers matched. However, Babar did not appear. In the name of Babar, his brother Faisal Azam appeared and asked for more time. However, on Thursday, Judge Hamid Hussain ordered the FIA to register a case against the culprits. After the court order, Babar’s family claims that they have not received any subpoenas from the FIA. They are also preparing to go to Lahore High Court. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not commented on this.
