The Amar Ekushey Book Fair, which was delayed due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, begins in March, the month of independence. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will open the Ganobhaban virtual book fair at 3pm on Thursday.
Due to the epidemic, this time the month of the language is the month of independence instead of February. The Ekushey Book Fair is dedicated to the memory of the heroic martyrs of the liberation war at the golden anniversary of independence. The main theme of this year’s book fair organized by Bangla Academy is the “Centenary of the birth of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence.” The 28-day book fair will begin on March 16 and end on April 14.
The Prime Minister will release the cover of the New China 1952 (NEW CHINA 1952) book translated into English by me as the highlight of the inaugural function of the fair. In addition, the 2020 Bangla Academy Literary Award will be awarded at the opening performance. The Minister of State for Culture, KM Khalid, will be the special guest at the opening ceremony. Culture Secretary Badrul Arefin will address the meeting. The Director General of the Bangla Academy, Habibullah Siraj, will give a welcoming speech. The president of the Academy, Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, will preside.
This time the book fair will be held in compliance with health regulations. Because of this, the scope of the fair has been doubled to ensure social distance. Outside of that, everyone has to go behind the mask. There will be a system to measure body temperature. Likewise, importance has been given to sanitation. Stalls and pavilions have been built taking into account the storms and rains. Also, if it rains, there will be a system to drain the water easily. There will be four shelters in the garden part. This time, after monitoring the situation, the children’s vigil will be announced.
