Clashes broke out at the emergency meeting of the Bangladesh Chhatra League on the question of dissolving the expired committee and appointing a new one. Such a situation was created by criticizing the organizational activities of the President-Secretary-General and speaking about the conference.
The incident took place on Monday night (March 15) at 23-Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan. Several leaders present at the meeting confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The Chhatra Central League convened this emergency meeting on the occasion of Mujib’s centennial and Bangabandhu’s birthday. The meeting was attended by more than a hundred leaders of the Central Committee.
Several organization leaders present at the meeting said they were discussing the organizational issues of the Chhatra League. At one point, Assistant Secretary General Arifuzzaman Imran began to speak. He spoke of the expired committee and demanded a conference. Speaking about the conference, the president-secretary general said, “If the leader says so, then there will be a conference.” Then Arifuzzaman Imran said: “The leader has to tell him.” Supporting his words, Senior Deputy Secretary General Pradeep Chowdhury said: ‘You will not say. You form a delegation. They will go and tell the leader. ‘ The president then informed the leader. Then there was a heated exchange between Vice Presidents Rakibul Hasan Nobel, Saiful Islam Sohag and Arifuzzaman Al Imran. At one stage of the dispute, there were clashes in the office. To defuse the situation, President Al Nahyan Khan Joy expelled Rakibul Hasan Nobel from the meeting.
The top leaders of the Chhatra League said the organization will be discussed and criticized at the emergency meeting of the Chhatra League. But it is not desirable for something like this to come up in discussion and criticism. Furthermore, it is an unethical act of the Chhatra League for a lesser leader to raise his hand against an older leader.
The president of the Chhatra League, Al Nahyan Khan Joy, and the general secretary, writer Bhattacharya, were called several times to find out about this, but did not receive the call.
