The Prime Minister inaugurated two state-of-the-art aircraft

Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled two next-generation Dash 8-400 models in the Biman Bangladesh Airlines fleet.

He inaugurated the two planes named ‘Akashatari’ and ‘Shwetbalaka’ via video conference from Ganobhaban on Sunday (March 14) at 11:10 am.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hoped that the service would be improved with the inauguration of the two planes.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines organized a function at the VVIP building at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to mark the unveiling of the two aircraft. From there, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism joined the videoconference with the Prime Minister. Mahbub Ali, Secretary of the Ministry M Mokammel Hossain, President of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) M Mofidur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal and other senior officials of the Ministry and Biman.

The two 74-seater aircraft are the second and third of three aircraft purchased on the basis of GTZ between the governments of Bangladesh and Canada. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina named these two aircraft “Akashtari” and “Shwetabalaka”.

The new, state-of-the-art 64-seat Dash 8-400 aircraft built by De Haviland, a well-known Canadian aircraft manufacturer. The Dash-8 is capable of flying from very short runways and is renowned for its smooth, uninterrupted flight at low cost. This model aircraft has a noise suppression system in the cabin.

On February 24 and March 5, the latest generation Dash 8-400 “Akashtari” and “Shwetabalaka” models were added to the fleet. As a result of these two additions, the number of aircraft on the plane stood at 21. Which is the highest among the airlines in Bangladesh.
