Two musicians killed in traffic accident

Two musicians were killed in a traffic accident at Mirsarai in Chittagong. They are Perth Pratim Guha (50) and Hanif Ahmed (41).

The accident occurred when a truck coming from the opposite direction collided with his minibus on the Dhaka-Chittagong Expressway around 5:30 am on Saturday.

Six more people were injured in the incident. Four of them have been named. They are Beauty, Nandan Chowdhury, Pappu, and Lutfar.

They were going to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka to attend a concert.

The outpost of the Highway Police in Zorarganj, SI Mohammad Ishaq, confirmed the information.

He said: ‘A truck went to the front in the Sonapahar area to make a U-turn. At that time, there was a collision with a minibus carrying music and instrumentalists coming from the opposite direction.

Mirsarai Fire Station Officer Jasim Uddin said the accident happened around 5:30 am. The Perth idol died on the spot. Others were rescued and sent to the local Mastan Nagar Health Complex.

Meanwhile, ASI Alauddin Talukder, from the Chittagong Medical College Hospital Police Outpost, said doctors declared Hanif dead when the three wounded were taken to hospital.

Beauty and Lutfar wounds are being treated at Chittagong Medical College.

Alauddin Taher, general secretary of the Chittagong-based radio station’s Association of Musical Artists, said Hanif was playing the Perth octopus and drums among the dead.
