Another person was killed in a clash between two factions of the Awami League in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila. Alauddin (30) died in the shooting.

Local sources claimed that Alauddin was a BCL activist. He is a supporter of the Mayor of Basurhat Municipality, Abdul Quader Mirza Group. During the protest rally in Basurhat Rupali Chattar on Tuesday afternoon protesting the attack on Khizir Hayat on Monday, there was tension over who or what was arrested. Later, local leaders and activists went to Bangabandhu Chattar with the slogans ‘Obaidul Quader’ and ‘Joybangla’ and attacked and looted the council fair celebrating the centenary of Bangabandhu’s birth. Ten people, including the CO from the police station, were injured in the attack. During this time, the protesters detonated bombs, destroyed cars and shops in different parts of the municipality.

Local Awami League leaders and activists said that a section of the Awami League (Mizanur Rahman Badal Group) organized a protest rally in Rupali Chattar in the afternoon to protest the attack and beating of the Basurhat League president Upazila Awami , Khizir Hayat Khan, by Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza’s men. . Mirza’s supporters attempted to attack the gathering on the west side of the police station around 7pm.

During this time, when supporters from both sides met face to face, there were chases and clashes and clashes broke out. Witnesses said clashes broke out in Rupali Chattar on the west side of the Kompaniganj police station. At around 9:30 p.m., intermittent shots were fired and bomb explosions occurred. Alauddin, who was shot at the time, was taken to Noakhali General Hospital for treatment and was pronounced dead by doctors.

Meanwhile, protesters broke into the private office of the mayor of Basurhat Municipality, Abdul Quader Mirza, on the third floor of the Aleya mansion, next to Basurhat Rupali Chattar. Valuable papers are taken.

The assailants attacked and looted the Parishad Mela celebrating the centenary of Bangabandhu’s birth and took the goods and money of the merchants. Panic spread to the Basurhat market. Men and women began to run from side to side. Many people were blocked in different markets in the Basurhat market. The situation in the area is tense. In this incident, merchants from Basurhat Bazar staged a protest procession in the street around 8 pm.

Companiganj OC Jahedul Haque Rony Police Station said police fired 10 rounds to control the situation. Ten people, including six policemen, were injured in the attack. Together with the police, the RAB is patrolling the area to monitor the situation. By the way, on February 19, journalist Burhan Uddin Muzakki was killed in a clash between two Awami League groups in Chaprasir Hat Bazar in upazila.
